S Series Specifications
The S series covers power ratings of 0.12–22 kW, torque ratings of 10–4,890 N·m and output speeds of 0.12–397 rpm. Standard gear ratios range from 10.27 to 230.48; combinations with the R series can reach 8,608 or higher. Configuration options include solid-shaft output (S), shaft mounting (SA), flange mounting (SF/SAF) and shaft input (SS).

Applications Where Self-Locking Matters
Resistance to back-driving can be useful in lifting equipment, inclined conveyors where reverse movement must be controlled, and other process machinery. At suitable ratios, the S series worm stage may provide static self-locking. For suspended loads, this characteristic must not be treated as a substitute for the complete machine’s braking and safety functions.
Balancing Gear Ratio and Efficiency
S series ratio selection requires a balance between speed reduction, self-locking behaviour and transmission efficiency. Higher ratios can favour self-locking but typically have lower efficiency. Applications that do not require self-locking may use a more efficient ratio configuration. SANYOO’s technical team can advise on the available options for the application.
